You can store or access shared files from anywhere using the Humanities Network. The files are kept organized in folders. Directions to access this space are somewhat different depending on your operating system. Please note that you cannot modify a file inside the shared space. You must first download the file, then make the changes and re-upload it.
1- in a Mac running OS 10.3 or above:
- Make sure you are in the Finder by looking next to the top-left corner apple image and reading "Finder" next to it
- From the Finder menu, select the fourth option to your right "Go" and then drop down to "Connect to Server..."
- In the Server Address window that appears, input "http:// files.humanitiesnetwork.org/[GROUP SHORT NAME]/"
- Enter your username and password when prompted.
- The space will mount in your computer as any regular filesharing space.
- When you are done, just unmount the fileshare as you would normally.
2- On any other platform using Firefox
- Download and install Firefox.
- Install WebFolders for Firefox from here: Mozdev.org WebFolders (this will install a fully compatible WebDAV extension for Firefox)
- From the File Menu in Firefox, select "Open Web Folder" and enter the shared location in the form:
"http:// files.humanitiesnetwork.org/[GROUP SHORT NAME]/" -- enter your username and password as prompted. The files and folders will display in your browser window. Download and upload as needed.
